Columbia University professor Joseph Massad refutes the “lesser evil” theory, presented by American progressives who argue that voting for the Democratic party is a “lesser evil” than voting for Republicans. The author compares the two parties in many aspects, such as health services, social security, and women’s rights, in which he argues there is no difference between them. The author shows that voting for a domestic agenda based on the misleading argument of “lesser evil” leads the government to launch wars and kill hundreds of thousands in the Middle East, for instance, because of the American imperialist foreign policy. He indicates that the “progressive” and “leftist” are similar to liberal conservatives; all are the beneficiaries of imperialist and racist systems. Because they are beneficiaries of this system, they are not interested in any radical change.
