Brief:
In this article, the author discusses the nuclear agreement between the United States in light of the new administration and Iran, and the Israeli attempts since Biden took office in January to disrupt any possible US-Iranian rapprochement. Israel has carried out several intelligence operations such as the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the prominent Iranian scientist who established the nuclear program two decades ago, and military operations directed at the Iranian nuclear reactor on several occasions, as happened in the sophisticated Natanz attack, which caused damage to thousands of underground machines connected to the refinement of nuclear materials. The Natanz attack forced Washington to increase coordination with Israel on the nuclear deal. It also identified the obstacle that Israel refuses to be restricted by any third-party nuclear agreement with Iran. Both sides are learning from the lessons of the 2015 nuclear deal. It seems that Netanyahu cannot afford a repeat of a public confrontation with a Democratic president over Iran, and Biden cannot ignore Netanyahu over Iran as Obama did previously.
