Brief:
The authors talk about the obstacles facing the administration of US President Joe Biden, who declared that under his leadership, “America is back” and once again “ready to lead the world.” The challenge for him is that his international vision confronts a deeply divided and skeptical American audience. A recent survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that nearly half of the American public believes that the US should pay less attention to problems abroad and focus more on solving problems at home. It will require structural political reforms to ease the deadlock and ensure that US foreign policy serves the interests of working Americans. Biden can learn from Roosevelt’s experience to overcome domestic obstacles that contribute to today’s crises. Usually, build better in a way that lasts longer than his presidency.
